Perfect Ohio Romantic Getaway in Mount Vernon
We just returned from celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary at what may be the most unique and romantic lodging in all of Ohio. I knew that our stay in the Genie Suite would be different from any other place we’ve stayed, but it was more epic than I could have imagined. Romantic Adventure Getaways put all of their heart and soul into the suite theming, and it showed in the small details that made our stay so special!

Why choose a romantic getaway?
Staying married for 20 years isn’t necessarily easy! Having two imperfect people do life together with 4 children and their schedules takes a lot of give and take and communication. We try to take as much time as possible for date nights and getaways so we can reconnect and enjoy each other without distractions. On past anniversaries, we’ve stayed at the Hilton Cleveland, a shipping container near Amish Country, and even took a road trip to Nashville with friends. Because we’ve traveled throughout Ohio and the world, my husband has called me a “travel snob,” so this Romantic Adventure Getaway certainly had a lot to live up to!
What to Expect at the Romantic Adventure Getaways in Mt. Vernon, Ohio
The Romantic Adventure Getaway in Mt Vernon is a large, historic home converted to a mini-luxury resort that contains 3 suites. We stayed in the Genie Suite, which is like being transported to the Bazaar Scene in Aladdin. You definitely don’t feel like you’re in Ohio anymore! Jewel-toned furnishings, a swinging bed, and a massive soaking tub with a rainfall shower are the first things one notices upon entering the suite, but its what you DON’T see that will absolutely blow your mind.
It’s difficult to explain what exactly the Genie Suite entails, but it feels like an escape room mixed with a spa! There are plenty of chances for intimacy and fun, but I will warn you that this type of getaway is not overly relaxing. Couples need to be able to climb narrow staircases, descend down a slide, and get in and out of a moving bed. You’ll also need some mental acuity for solving the puzzles and riddles, although there is a QR code with extra clues if you get stuck. Nevertheless, this is the place for couples who love adventure and staying busy.
What I loved about the Romantic Adventure Getaway was the element of surprise. My husband and I must have said, “No way!” or broke into surprised laughter at least 15 times throughout the evening. We could not believe all of the planning that went into the clues and the hidden rooms. When we took a break to have dinner at The Alcove Restaurant, we were already discussing how blindsided we were by just how cool The Genie Suite turned out to be.
We didn’t expect to dress up as Aladdin and Jasmine, sing each other songs in the karaoke room, or find ourselves in a custom massage parlor. As parents, it’s easy to get caught up in the mundane aspects of life, but this was anything but mundane!
I don’t want to give away all of the surprises, but if you are looking for somewhere to take some time for yourself, share an incredible experience with your partner, and have some fun and laughs, I would recommend the Romantic Adventure Genie Suite in Mt.
